Booster / Accelerator: Both Booster and Accelerator will balance your skin’s pH level so the tan will develop within 2-4 hours, and develop a darker, more even color. Booster can be applied before any self-tan product and Accelerator is a Myxer that can be added to any professional in-salon spray tan.
Bronzer: A cosmetic color that creates an instant tan. Mystic Tan offers multiple high-quality bronzer made with cosmetic-grade ingredients for a perfect tan.
Clear or Gradual Tan: When getting a professional in-salon spray tan, you can choose a shade that contains no cosmetic bronzer (also called “clear”). It goes on your skin without color, and your tan will develop over the next 6-8 hours. Self-tanners also feature products without cosmetic color. Shop our Wake Up Tan or Gradual Tan options for your perfect tan!
Cruelty Free: Mystic Tan products are developed by methods that do not involve experimentation on animals and do not use animal by-products. Mystic Tan employees thoroughly test all products and we only sell what we love.
DHA: The active ingredient most often used in all sunless tanners. It’s approved by the FDA for use in externally applied sunless tanning solutions. For misting applications, the FDA recommends protective measures to prevent eye contact, inhalation or ingestion. Mystic Tan DHA ingredients are Eco-Certified. To read more about DHA, visit our Ingredients page.
Dimethyl Isosorbide (DMI): DMI is a high purity solvent, and carrier, which offers an effective delivery enhancement mechanism for active ingredients in personal care products. DMI in sunless tanning products enhances the effect of the sunless tan. Mystic Tan sunless products are formulated with DMI.
D-Odor 200™: Mystic Tan sunless products, both self-tan and in-salon, are formulated with breakthrough odor control technology, D-Odor 200™, designed to virtually eliminate the odor commonly associated with sunless tanning products. Not all skin chemistry is the same, but 89% of our panelists surveyed said, “little to no odor”.
Erythrulose: An active ingredient often used in sunless tanning products combined with DHA. Erythrulose takes longer to develop its full effect, therefore it helps the tan last longer. Mystic Tan sunless products are formulated with Eco-Certified Erythrulose.
Exfoliate: To wash or rub your skin with a granular substance to remove dead cells from the epidermis, or top layer of skin. Everyone’s skin naturally sheds the epidermis weekly. We recommend exfoliating before tanning to make your tan appear even and to avoid an uneven fade.
FDA: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is a federal agency of the United States Department of Health and Human Services, one of the executive departments that regulate products and product safety. The FDA considers sunless tanning products ‘Cosmetics’; like makeup.
FDA Advisory: The FDA has approved DHA for external application to the skin. For spray or misting applications, the FDA suggests wearing protective eyewear, nose filters, earplugs, lip balm, and undergarments. To read the complete FDA position on DHA, click here.
Gluten Free: Mystic Tan products are free from wheat protein for allergy conscious users.
Non-Comedogenic: A description for skincare or make-up products that are specially formulated to not clog your pores.
Paraben Free: Parabens are not used as preservatives in Mystic Tan products.
Professional In-Salon Spray Tan Booth: A private, warm, automated spray system that delivers a full-body Mystic Tan spray tan in under 3 minutes. Find a salon near you!
Self-Tan: A professional-quality Mystic Tan self-tanner that you can take home and apply when needed.
Sunless Tan: The application of either a self-tan product or spray tan to your body. When applied, the active ingredient in sunless tanning products (DHA) reacts with the proteins in the skin’s superficial layer to form a golden-brown color. Your skin begins to darken 2-3 hours after application and reaches its peak color within 24 hours. The color will gradually fade through natural exfoliation, just like a tan from the sun.
